More Cameron Highlands Trip Pix (9-10 June 2014)

Here are more pictures of our Cameron Highlands trip 🙂

After tucking into some delish scones with freshly brewed Bharat tea leaves teh tarik at the tea house (picture below), we walked down to the tea plantation for a cam-whoring session.  Running up the steep steps from the tea plantation to the top (chasing the littlest monkey who could zig zag her way up so swiftly!!) left me breathless and at one point, I felt I was gasping and could not breathe! Oh no, I hope I am not a potential asthma patient like my mum!

Melt-in-the-mouth scones from the coffee house of Smokehouse Hotel, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Can you spot someone with a sulky face hiding?

Cass was in a foul mood when we were at the Smokehouse Hotel coffee house and refused to be in the photo *rolls eyes*!

At the flower garden of the hotel that we stayed in – Casa De’La Rosa Hotel.  One of the things that I love about Camerons is the beautiful fresh flowers everywhere in full bloom all year round.

My dad brought the girls to the temple to pay respect to their great grandparents (my dad’s parents). This is the lion that my 2 brothers and I used to stand on to pose almost every year during Chinese New Year when we were younger.  Now, my own three kids are standing on the same lion’s feet 🙂

At Kasimanis Strawberry Farm. Strawberries are not in season now, thus we could not see any red strawberries in full bloom, what a pity 🙁

Day Trip To Kellie’s Castle and Teluk Intan (4 June 2014)

It was an eleventh hour and impromptu decision to bring the kids to visit Kellie’s Castle. I casually asked dad on Tuesday night if he could drive us to Kellie’s Castle on Wednesday morning and my dad obliged without any hesitation. Muacks muacks papa 🙂

After the visit to Kellie’s Castle yesterday, my dad was in a mood to drive us to Teluk Intan to visit his sister.  It was the kids’ first ever visit to Kellie’s Castle and Teluk Intan.  It was also a maiden visit for my parents and me to Kellie’s Castle.

From the facade, Kellie’s Castle looked like a castle from the olden days of white knights and princesses. Indeed very impressive and grandiose.  Inside the castle, everything is in ruins and dusty.  We had a lot of stairs climbing to do and when we were at the top, Cass who has a  phobia of heights screamed out to be brought down.  There are also no proper safety measures and fencing to prevent accidents.

Our tour of the much talked-about Kellie’s Castle with paranormal sightings…

And yes, I did feel spooky when I toured the castle *sweats*!!

Now, who dares to partake in the Kellie’s Castle Paranormal Night Tour?

We saw a bride and groom doing their bridal photography at the castle. The pair climbed up to the top of the castle for their photography. Err, I would never want to do mine here, in a castle that is believed to be haunted, lest my photos get photo-bombed by some unwanted figures! And on a hot and sweltering day some more – my make up would definitely smear my face, making me look like a ghost LOL!

This was supposed to be the dining area.  The castle was yet to be completed when William Kellie Smith passed on in Scotland.

After the visit to Kellie’s Castle, dad brought us to Tg Tualang in the hope of bringing the kids to see the famous tin mining dredge but unfortunately, the place was closed.  The kids could only catch a glimpse of the humungous dredge from the car.  I told the kids that once upon a time in Ipoh, their great grand father (their daddy’s grand parents) was a well-known tin-miner and philanthropist in Ipoh.

As my dad (who is 71 years old this year) was in a mood to drive around yesterday, he made a detour and brought us to Teluk Intan.

Upon arrival at Teluk Intan, we visited the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan, then adjourned to have lunch with my aunt, visited the Teluk Intan River Front, visited the biscuit shop to get some famous Teluk Intan biscuits and then cooled ourselves down with coconut water before returning to Ipoh.

 photo telukintanleaningtower_zpscb2d72a5.jpg
In this picture, the tower looked slanted to one side but from most angles, the slant is not really very obvious.  We climbed to the top of the tower, which was only 3 storeys high but the stairs leading up the tower were very very steep and narrow.

On our way back to Ipoh using the old trunk road, it poured cats and dogs shit. We stopped at Kampar to get some famous paus and reached Ipoh at 6pm.  The kids enjoyed themselves very much but I found it quite torturous be be walking around under the hot scorching sun and climbing flights after flights of stairs the whole day.   As I had said before, this is one of the sacrifices of a mother — to do things that you do not like to do all for the sake of your kids!  Ah, the joys of motherhood! 🙂

Eventful Night At Marina Bay Sands, Singapore (15 December 2013)

On our second night in Singapore, we went to the world-famous Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort to check out the spectacular night view of the structure as well as to watch the breath-taking multimedia laser show (Wonder Full light and water show). The spectators had to be seated at the door steps, facing the waterfront. In case you do not already know, the casino at Marina Bay Sands is billed as the world’s most expensive standalone casino property at US$5.7 billion.

I was awestruck with the magnificent beauty of the Marina Bay Sands structure and quickly whipped up my Samsung phone to snap pix but shit, I only realized then that my phone battery was already running low at 10% with a warning flashing each time I snapped pix.  How wonderful!!  So there I was standing at a foreign place, trying to wait for my phone to switch to camera mode at slow motion pace and lo and behold, when I was done snapping the pix, my hubs, 3 daughters and group of friends were no where in my sight! GREAT!  And thanks to Miss Itchy Hands who spoilt her daddy’s handphone when she pushed him into the pool, I could not call the hubster!  Double whammy!  If you had been to Marina Bay Sands, you will know how gigantic this place is. I looked everywhere and all I could see was a sea of people swarming the waterfront, waiting for the laser show to begin. I panicked. I didn’t know where to walk to but just  walked up and down anyway, trying my luck to spot familiar faces. Thank God after a panicky 15 minutes, I finally saw the hubs. I felt like hollering and cursing him for leaving me behind, aaaargh! @$#!!

A word of caution, if you are going to this place with young kids (and any crowded place for that matter), please please do hold on to their hands.  Our friend almost lost her son that night.  We were going to the washroom. She was with her 3 kids. The 2 younger kids were bickering and then the brother just left the sister and tried to walk back to the waterfront. At the washroom when we were queuing up, the sister suddenly cried. My friend became frantic when she could not find her son and asked the girl where her brother was. She was sobbing and sobbing and could not tell.  Panic button was pressed. All of us in the washroom became panicky. My friend could not get through to her hubby on her phone and another friend also tried to call but in vain.  Finally, the call went through and her hubby went searching for the boy.  Thank God for watching over the boy and my friend’s hubby managed to find the boy *cold sweat dribbling down forehead*

Enough of drama ranting.  Enjoy the pix taken at Marina Bay Sands.  The first two pictures were copied from Google Images as my Samsung phone is not capable of snapping crystal clear pix taken outdoor at night.

After the laser show, we did some shopping. I bought a pair of Zara jeans for Alycia which cost me RM149 and today, I saw a similar pair of jeans at MNG online selling at a discounted price at RM49! Lesson learned.  Never buy from Singapore when the item is not on sale.

Next, we went to Master Toast for supper and the finale was the 2 tubs of Haagen Dazs ice-cream that the hubs bought for the kids, which they enjoyed eating whilst watching this waterfall inside the mall at Marina Bay Sand.

We drove to Orchard Road to check out the X’mas lighting and decor at the shopping malls on our way back to Sentosa Island to our friend’s house.

Holiday Promotion Codes

The long school holiday is just round the corner. My 2 older girls are counting down the days to the start of the holiday. While they will be really happy that they do not have to go to school for 1.5 months, the long school holiday spells t-r-o-u-b-l-e for me. I can imagine that my girls will be bored to the core being cooped up at home and boredom would mean that there will be more fights, more temper tantrums from them and more yelling from me. Apart from a short holiday up north to my parents and then to Penang for Baby’s bi-annual ultrasound scan and follow up check with the surgeon, I don’t think we will be going anywhere further than that. Bringing the entire family for an overseas vacation would throw off our budget plan.

My close friend is already planning for an overseas vacation with her 2 kiddos and hubby. She has been surfing the internet to find the best holiday deals and discovered that with Holiday Discount Codes, she can save some money on her vacation. With Holiday Discount Codes, she can get low cost flights, amazing hotel rates, special prices for visitor attractions and many more great deals up for grabs. If you are planning for an overseas holiday with your family, you really have to check out these Holiday Discount Codes to help you save some money. The money saved can be used for your shopping loot!

I Seriously Need A Break From The Kids

I am exhausted. I am physically and mentally burnt out. And I am now sick. Yet I don’t get any sick leave. Being a SAHM, I work round the clock, 24 hours a day, all year round with no paid leave, no salary increment and no bonuses. This is not fun at all. I want a break. I tell my 2 older kids all the time that I will run far away from them each time they disobey me and drive me to the point of wanting to jump down from the 5th floor of my condo!  What I really want to do now is to go on a holiday…just me alone, without the kids and without the hubs. The hubs will stay home to look after the kids so that he knows exactly how back-breaking and mental-torturing it is to be cooped up in the house with 3 kids and no break. I am yearning to go on one of those holidays for singles from Just You to de-stress my battered body and mind.

Just You offers escorted holidays for single travelers, including ocean cruises, short breaks, river cruise holidays and holidays by air and coach to Europe, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Central and South America, Africa, China and Asia and the Middle East. What I would love is a single cruise in Alaska! There will be a tour manager to accompany the single travelers to arrange meals, offer advice and answer any question. There will also be plenty of me time and space for me to be alone. That’s just what I want right now! I’m sure I’ll come back fully recharged and a much happier person after one of those singles holidays to clear my cluttered mind!

Dream Vacation

The long holidays are here again. I’ve asked hubby repeatedly if he could bring us back to our hometown for a short break as we have not gone back for over a year. I miss my hometown and the heavenly hawkers’ food. My 2 older gals miss their granny and grandpa too. If hubby could plan his schedule properly, we would be able to go back for a short break next week, keeping my fingers crossed.

It would be really ideal if we could all go to the beach for a vacation this school holidays. My 2 older gals have never been to the beach and I think they will go crazy if we brought them to the beautiful San Diego beach for a beach vacation. Whilst hubby and I could go waterskiing and kayaking, the gals can build sand castles. I have seen the beautiful San Diego rentals by the beach and they are just awesome. These luxury vacation homes can be rented from San Diego Beach Real Estate and I particularly like the ones facing the ocean with a spectacular view of the beautiful beach. San Diego is the perfect destination for a family holiday. Activities are aplenty from sea sports to outdoor activities, sight seeing, shopping and San Diego restaurants that serve a wide selection of sumptuous cuisines are also conveniently located everywhere. I know all of us will surely have a swell time vacationing in San Diego. There I go again, daydreaming again of yet another vacation!

Denver And The Majestic Rocky Mountains

Did you know that the Rocky Mountain Foothills just 15 miles outside of Denver was once listed among the Seven Wonders of the World? The breathtaking beauty of Ship Rock and Creation Rock, the largest of the monoliths, tower 300 feet above the Red Rocks Amphitheater. These massive brick-colored sandstone monoliths are taller than Niagara Falls. The Amphitheater has seen several world-renown acts, including the Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, John Denver and The Beatles. The major attractions in Rocky Mountain Park are hiking, backpacking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, mountain climbing and sightseeing. Denver is a great place to visit. Excellent hotels and Denver Restaurants serving a wide selection of cuisines are located in Denver, making this place a popular tourist destination.
