Hairdresser Wannabe

Sherilyn is obsessed with not only her hair but everyone else’s hair too, lol! Whenever she gets the chance to lay her hands on my hair, she will comb, brush and pull my precious locks till I scream torture and murder. Just the other day, she gave Baby a good hair combing session and surprisingly, Baby seemed to enjoy it…. though she’s super sensitive to her hair being pulled or combed when her hair gets entangled (she’ll yell abuse when her entangled hair gets pulled slightly!).

Baby Called Me Mummy…. And Pooed In Her Potty

Cassandra’s Milestones at 16 Months

“Walk walk, walk walk” — this is Baby’s favorite word these days. She can hardly be caged up in her playpen now. Most of her waking time is spent walking and climbing. This afternoon, I put her in her playpen after her lunch. She of course pleaded pathetically with her favorite line “walk walk, walk walk”. I would normally carry her out but today I said “call mummy first” and to my great surprise, she said the golden word “mamee” with a smile.   Though this is not the first time I hear my babies calling me mummy for their first time, I am nonetheless overwhelmed and overjoyed. I praised her sky high, carried her, shouted “good job, clever girl“, kissed her, hugged her and jumped and jumped together with her… which made her giggle and giggle. I then asked her to call me mummy again and she called me “mamee” again, then I repeated the praises, hugs, jumps and kisses. Wow, we did that like 5 times and that moment was really priceless, a moment which I’ve waited for 16 months.

This morning, my mil also managed to get Baby to poo poo in the potty…. the bright red potty that Sherilyn jie jie once used. It was a good start and Baby managed to poo effortlessly and without any fuss. I hope she’ll keep up the good work tomorrow and the days that follow. Baby is still doing fine peeing in the throne each time I bring her there. My next mission is to teach her to tell me each time she wants to pee or poo. Now, she knows how to tell me after she had poo pooed by lifting her blouse and saying “ba ba” (poo poo), albeit not all the time.

Baby now has 3 teeth – 2 at the bottom and 1 on top.

Baby’s weight is still hovering at 9kg. She’s at a very active stage now, so I foresee her weight will climb up pretty slowly. But it’s ok, as long as she’s healthy and is UTI free, her weight is just a number and wouldn’t bother me much.

Making A Dish Look Good

My mil who is a great cook would only put presentable dishes on the dining table. Unlike me, I don’t bother much about making the food look really good, I use whatever plate/bowl that’s within reach and I try to find the shortest and easiest possible way to prepare a dish, but not my mil.  She goes into great lenghts to prepare a dish.  She’s one who would remove the skin of a tomato by blanching it in a pot of boiling water.  Me? I’d just reach out for a fruit peeler.

See this plate of canned sardine fish? My mil made it look so appetizing by slicing up some chilled Japanese cucumbers and onions and squeezed in some lemon juice.  Me? I’d have just put the sardines in a China bowl and dump it into the microwave or toaster oven, then dig in it.  Even my 2 gals who don’t really fancy canned sardines digged in them and they do taste good with all the accompaniments. I sapu almost the entire plate of sardines!  I would have beautified my dishes too if I had more time on hand now.

Suckling Pig No More

The set menu that the hubs chose for the dinner we had on Saturday to celebrate my dad’s birthday consisted of a suckling pig, among other dishes. I used to like suckling pig but in recent years, I have started to feel really geli (repulsive) each time I eat them, especially if there is a thick layer of fat stuck to the crispy skin.  Gee, that’s just too fattening, donch ya think so?  Just 2 weeks back, I had read an article in the newspapers on how baby animals are killed and brought to the pot and served on the dining table. I felt really gross after reading that article.

When I saw this suckling pig staring at me, I felt my stomach turning, haha…. and then the next few dishes that followed, I lost my appetite. I felt even more nauseous when the baby’s pig head was chopped into pieces for everyone to devour on, muahahahaha…. I think I should stop the hubs from ordering this dish in future – to prevent cruelty, to save money (a suckling pig ain’t cheap) and for health’s sake.  Do you eat suckling pig?

I think I should turn into a vegan soon!

Our Sunday

We had buffet lunch at Lemon Garden coffee house @ Shangri La Hotel today.  That was our second birthday celebration for my dad.  We had a sumptuous dinner at a Chinese restaurant last night.  The buffet at Lemon Garden coffee house is one of the best in town. Though quite pricey, the food is great and selection is really wide.  There is such an abundance of good food that I can never have space in my tummy to taste everything each time I have lunch there.  In fact, I didn’t eat much today coz my throat doesn’t feel that good and I don’t want to overstuff myself.  When I was with Aly and Sher who were doing arts and craft outside the coffee house, I bumped into Mamapumkin’s hubby and their ever cute Tee and we chatted for a while.

My little vain pot was too distracted with all the activities for kids that she hardly ate… only ate a scoop of ice-cream, some creamy mushroom soup with crackers…. then went out to socialize, got herself 2 hand paintings, did some arts and craft and tailed the clown for balloons over and over again!

My 3 gals are bone-tired now as they slept very late last night, woke up early this morning and played like there’s no tomorrow today.  They are all now fast asleep and finally I have some quiet time to myself!

I Can Feed Myself Medicine

Sher was ransacking the kitchen drawer for junk food after her lunch a few days ago. She had just recovered from a throat infection. I threatened her that if she ate any junk food and gets another throat infection, I would not care for her and would not feed her medicine. Guess what her reply was? “I can feed myself medicine!” And she said that smugly too *slaps forehead*

Here she is feeding herself medicine… which was Duphalax syrup for her constipation / bloated tummy. I was too busy to feed Sher and told her to eat the meds herself after I had poured the meds out for her, which she happily did! I’m glad that my 2 older gals are now pretty independent and they are enjoying their independence too, prefering to do everything themselves. If only Sher would eat her rice and dishes on her own too without asking us to feed her at every meal.

Hates Rice But Loves Oodles Of Noodles

Lately I have been recollecting my childhood days to see if Sherilyn takes after me and then all of a sudden, I remembered that I hated to eat rice too (and still donch like rice). I remember a few incidences very vividly when I was around 6-7 years old where my mum spoon fed me rice with dishes that I hated but I dared not spit them out as my parents were fierce, and so was my maternal grandma…. so I forced myself to swallow the rice painfully and almost puked them out…. which naturally caused my eyes to turn watery LOL!

This happened last week when we were having lunch at Paris (Par Lai) Restaurant in PJ. We had ordered several dishes that would surely whet the appetite of any kid but not Sher. When everyone had finished eating (even Baby had finished eating), we all left our seats and stood next to the table, hurrying Sher to finish her food. Daddy had to feed her and put on an angry face but still she could not finish her food.  She spat the last spoonful of food out, haih……

On another occasion when we had lunch at an Italian restaurant, it was such a breeze sitting next to her. Sher was happily slurping her oodles of spaghetti and even helped herself to more without me asking her to eat.

My mil will be away for a few months next month and I will have one less helper. Sherilyn will be one happy girl soon coz she is so going to eat noodles and bread at every meal muahahahaha…….

Tortoise Jelly

My mil got 2 boxes of kwai leng goa from Eu Yan Sang the other day. Guess who whacked the 2 boxes of tortoise jelly?

My not so health freak Alycia and moi. I love tortoise jelly, though it tastes a tad bitter and I normaly eat it minus the honey.  Yup, I can slurp the smooth jelly down my throat minus any sweet syrup. I polished off the last box last night as I was having a slight sore throat, no thanks to the durians, terrible haze and constant yelling.  My throat really felt better this morning…. though I doubt the herbal jelly actually cured the bad throat.

By the way, it’s called tortoise jelly coz people believe that the herbal jelly is made from ground tortoise shell. Well, I don’t know how true it is but I personally think it’s made purely out of herbs and jelly powder.   What da ya think?  You think tortoise jelly really has ground tortoise shell in it?

Way To Go Baby C

At 15.5 months, Baby C is finally peeing in the toilet … YAY!  Nope, she’s not peeing in the potty coz I am just too lazy to wash the portable potty.  Since yesterday, I have been bringing her to the toilet and let her sit on our throne (with me holding her) and she has no problem peeing each time she sits on the throne.  She could pee almost immediately without much coaxing and I would praise her sky high each time she peed.  I did not intend to potty train Baby so soon coz I didn’t know if she was ready for it. I only started to potty train Alycia and Sher when they were 2 years old.

For the past 1 week before Baby’s bath, she would obediently pee into the specimen urine bottle the moment I removed her diaper. I have been checking her pee by looking at the clarity and color for the past 2 months, to check for signs of UTI.  Since Baby could obediently pee each time I asked her to without fussing, I just knew she was ready to be potty trained. My next goal is to train her to poo poo in the throne too. Way to go sweetie-pie, mummy is really proud of you!

Baby Is Alycia’s Best Friend… And Last Week’s Loot

Alycia is VERY possessive of Baby. She will get upset and furious if Sherilyn gets too close to Baby! Everyday, she will bug me to allow her to get into the playpen to play with Baby, hug her and kiss her. The way she hugs Baby is just like how she hugs her dolls or a puppy.  She always tells me that Baby is her best friend and treats her like her possession, muahahahaha! And Baby absolutely adores her jie jie too. If there is one night that I forbid her from going into the playpen to hug, kiss or play with Baby, she would go to bed with a grumpy and black face, fretting and grumbling away until she falls asleep.

I sure hope she will always love Baby the way she loves Baby now.

And this is last week’s ice-cream loot from mah mah:

Quirky Sherilyn

Here is another stunt and quirkiness of Sherilyn’s…. reading while lying belly down on my fit ball *rolls eyeballs*

And looks like #3 will one day follow suit her mischievous ji jie’s antics coz at 15 months now, she is already displaying many of Sherilyn jie jie’s traits…. fierce, active, loves climbing, will throw herself on the floor and pretend to cry if we forbade her to do something, etc.

Notice the TV console door lying on the floor?  No need to ask who broke it AGAIN…. #2 of course.  It had been broken many times by her but now the door hinge cracked and is irreparable…. and daddy has to buy a new TV console soon.

Into The Bin And Flushed Down The Toilet

This is Sherilyn’s dinner consisting of brown rice, pan-fried salmon fish, steamed egg with minced pork and stir-fried veggie, all cut up, along with a bowl of watercress soup. My mil normally prepares her bowl/plate of dinner, then feeds her *slap forehead*

This plate of dinner went into the bin coz after feeding Sherilyn just 1 spoonful, she stored the food in her mouth for almost an hour…. which really pissed my mil off and she sent Sherilyn off the dining table and told her not to eat anymore… and no milk for her later in the night. But that was music to Sher’s ears. She zoomed to the bathroom on the pretext of peeing and when we heard the sound of the toilet being flushed, we knew what this fler was up to…. coz she hardly flushes the toilet after her business. We saw bits of food and veggie floating in the toilet bowl haha…. she’s not quick enough to second flush to eliminate all traces of the food hah! See how cunning this fler is! Why lar Sherilyn is eating rice such a torture to you?
