Baby C’s Post Surgery – Day 3

Friday, 8 May 09 marked the 3rd day of Baby C’s post surgery day. On the 2nd day post surgery, I noticed that her left hand (i.e. the hand which had the IV line on) was a tad puffy. I thought it was just the baby fat on her hand, like lotus roots. However, the next day, the lotus root hand ballooned up. I told the surgeon and he ordered that the IV line be removed… and another line be fixed… on her right hand this time. Poor poor baby, had to endure further torture! My poor baby was so weak (from all the puking and not having eaten or drank anything for 4 days) that all that she could muster was a feeble kitten-like cry when the doctor poked her hand.

  1. its normal for the skin to look puffed with IV. U can help to reduce it by massaging it and push the “water” down to other parts of the body, like distributing it. I know ler.. cos my boys were also on iv last time and myself also. Alot of massaging to do. Take care

  2. thanks for dropping by my blog, shireen. it is really thoughtful of you. a pic like the above is really not a good sight for any mothers, whats more for you seeing your own blood and flesh lying there, on the bed. nevertheless, Baby C is one strong baby, and good news of all, she is finally walking on the journey of recovering!! Think of the happy days ahead, ok? happy mothers day to you!

  3. hope she gets well asap. i also wanna see her smiley and cute face too! as long as she is well and healthy, doesnt matter.. keep praying and have a blessed mother’s day to u!

  4. Baby C,
Pls get well soon. It really pain me to see you like this even though we never met. I read your mommy’s blog daily and I feel so connected to you, like I’m your aunt, like someone who has seen you grow since Day 1.
