My Homecooked Dishes

My mil has been away in HK for almost a month now…. and yes, I managed to dish up healthy and tasty dishes for my kiddos. Here are some of my ‘sau sai’ (culinary skill)…

Stir fried fresh udon noodles with purple cabbage, chicken meat, garlic and onions.Β  There are 2 types of udon noodles – dried type and fresh ones.Β  Fresh ones are only available from Japanese marts and taste better than the dried ones. They are pretty expensive and can cost up to RM20+ a packet.Β  My kiddos love Udon but not me.Β  I hate starchy noodles!

Braised chicken with organic Japanese pumpkin. My kids hate pumpkins but loved this dish πŸ™‚

Braised turnip with mushrooms, shredded carrot, chicken strips, onion, garlic and dried cuttlefish strips.

  1. Chew Lee… I don’t have any recipe. It’s pretty simple actually and I whipped this dish up with whatever ingredients I had in my kitchen. You need to marinate the chicken with some soy sauce and pepper for about 1-2 hrs. Heat up wok, brown garlic and onions, put in about 1 tablespoon of tau cheong, put the chicken in and fry the chicken for about 20 mins or until the chicken pieces turn brownish. Lastly, toss the pumpkin in and cook for another 15 minutes. No need sugar coz the pumpkin is already very sweet. Pretty simple πŸ™‚
