Serai Restaurant @ Life Centre, KL And We Saw Siti Nurhaliza and Datuk K!

We spent a good 15 minutes at the church car park yesterday, at a lost over where to head to for lunch. Finally, the foodie hubs suggested going to Life Centre at the heart of the Golden Triangle to try out some new restaurants at the refurbished Life Centre as he had heard positive review from his friend on the cluster of new restaurants at Life Centre.

We made the right choice of restaurant yesterday as the food was impeccable, great ambience and service was good too. Actually we wanted to try the Japanese restaurant next to Serai but it was fully booked, so we went back to Serai. Just after I was seated, I spotted 2 familiar faces directly opposite me. It was Malaysia’s most popular song bird Siti Nurhaliza and her hubby Datuk K! What a pleasant surprise. Datuk K was still donning on a neck braces and appeared very quiet, which is understandable as he is still recovering from a near-fatal road accident that happened overseas a few months ago.

Serai @ Life Centre exudes a chic and unique concept in a fashionable urban setting in KL’s Golden Triangle. Emulating the dining experience of its sister outlets, Serai @ Life Centre reflects an exclusive look and feel, incorporating floor to ceiling windows with picturesque views of the outdoors. The menu comprises of fusion food – mainly  local delights as well as Western.

Here’s what we had:

Serai Platter @ RM25 per plate…

Nasi Kerabu @ RM22 per plate…

Chicken and beef sate @ RM15 per plate. We initially ordered only 1 plate but after tasting how delish it was, we ordered another plate.  Loved the thick and luscious peanut sauce which ain’t too spicy.

Pumpkin salad @ RM16.90

Middle Eastern Medley @ RM45.  The rice tasted like nasi Briyani and the lamb shank was superb — tender, juicy and full of flavors!

Seafood Marinara @ RM27 and there was also a chicken mushroom pasta @ RM12 under the kids menu (not in picture)…

Serai iced tea @ RM8.50 and Minted Calamansi Soda @ RM10.50. Loved both the refreshing drinks!  The serai (lemongrass) tea went very well with the mint leaves and ice sorbet.  The fresh mint leaves drink also paired terrific with the soda. Both drinks were not overly sweet and very invigorating on a hot afternoon.

Milky Bandung (rose syrup with fresh milk) @ RM8.50 and Teh Tarik @ RM5.50 to go with the Tiramisu @ RM14.80…

Oreo Cheese Cake…

Total damage was RM302.75 for 5 adults and 3 kids, which is fairly reasonable as the food was above par in taste, presentation and price.   Very satisfactory service and love the spacious setting of the classy restaurant. Would definitely make a return soon!

  1. Chris, I’d say it is on par with other restaurants serving similar food and of such standard. Moreover, the location is at the Golden Triangle. Overall, yeah a bit steep but worth it as we all enjoyed the food 🙂
