Transfer Blog To Own Domain

For weeks, I’ve been thinking of transferring my blog to my own domain. If I have my own domain, for one, the website is mine and does not belong to anyone else so, I have no worries that my blog will be deleted or get blocked by my current host, Blogger. Two, I can receive more offers as some advertisers only accept bloggers hosting their own domain.

My problem is I don’t know which host to choose, local or US and I just don’t have the time to do the migration work myself. As it is now, I am already working on all cylinders and at full steam, lacking sleep and everything. So if I were to try doing the migration thing myself, I think I won’t even have time to eat and sleep and have a life. Maybe it’s a very easy task but I am totally not techno savant.

If only I can pay someone to do everything for me from A through Z. Yep, this is an offer to you guys out there. Anyone wants to take up my offer to help me transfer to my own domain? But don’t ask for too much lar, I’m only a SAHM mah.

  1. hahaa…if someone takes up your offer, could you pls refer that person to me too? please…pretty please?
i just bought my own domain but don’t know about transferring yet. I don’t think I have time to start another blog too 🙁

  2. my opinion, if you buy your own domain, just used it for PPP as PPP’s posts can be deleted after 30 days. You have to keep the post permanently for other sponsored post, that will eventually mess up your domain unless your initial planning of setting up the domain is for earning money.

    i took the M’sia one, Eternal Solution, RM135/year. 🙂

  3. hehe… just like mommy to chumsy, if someone takes yr offer, please let me know.

I am like you, not really a IT savvy person.

  4. i can help you, as I just did migrate. But the thing is, it takes 3 months again before advertisers approve, and need to build PR again. So while waiting, you can still work at your old blog.

I got a local host, and it seems working good so far. I chose wordpress, it’s cool, but just like you i’m no techy, I actually asked help from a friend too in installing WP to my cPanel, from there I was able to work it out. sometimes the host can set it up for you, you just have to ask them.

I can help you with wordpress, but not installing WP in your cPanel, don’t know how to do it. But once it’s in your cPanel, then i can do it for you…free of charge ^_^

that’s my way of thanking you for the beautiful friendship you offer.

  5. Hui Sia… is Eternal Solutions good?

  6. Mom to chumsy… i heard from one blogger that http://www.hostgator.com will do everything related to the migration for you. YOu dont hv to lift your finger to do it. I’ll let her try it out and if it’s good and really i dont hv to do much on the migration, i’ll use hostgator too.
