Retired Ipoh Auntie Life

Sunday, 20 Sept 2026 — What We Ate

Breakfast: Mum’s homemade keto pandan santan mug cake + chocolate mug cake. 😋

Lunch: Leftover Seoul Garden from last night. We’re such small eaters that THREE dishes became dinner + today’s lunch. 😂

Dinner was my 83-yo dad’s home-cooked spread — red bell pepper with garlic, onions & tempeh, silky steamed egg, siew pak choy and steamed fish with red dates & goji berries. Mum also made homemade yogurt with fresh pandan juice and coconut cream. SO good! 🤤

Back in KL, Sundays were usually “Where shall we go eat?” days. Here in Ipoh, life is basically:

Eat. Clean the house. Exercise. Eat again. Hang out with Mum, Dad & Haru. Clean up after dinner. Repeat. 😂

Sounds boring, but honestly? This is exactly the kind of low-chaos life I want at 53.

No rushing, no packed schedules — just simple food, family, a happy tummy and a peaceful life.

Apparently, my idea of excitement these days is… what’s for lunch and dinner?

Sauteed red bell pepper with tempeh + carrots + garlic + onion.

Steamed fish fillet with red dates + goji berries, steamed egg and steamed siew pak choy.

I don’t eat rice, so dad steamed a sweet potato for me.

Mum’s pressure-cooked pandan + santan unsweetened yogurt.
