Alycia the Globetrotter – Working Hard, Living Fully Before Graduation

Our girl Alycia has truly embraced a whirlwind season of adventure, learning, and growth. Just last week, she returned from Penang, and two days ago she flew off to Sarawak. Even now, as I’m writing this, she’s mid-flight to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. What a life!

This isn’t just leisurely travel — she’s been diligently working on a part-time job with Astro’s Xiao Tai Yang children’s TV channel. The team is currently on a nationwide roadshow, filming episodes across Malaysia. It’s not all lights and camera glamour; Alycia is hands-on with the nitty-gritty behind the scenes — from buying to preparing the props needed for the shoots. It’s demanding work, but what an incredible opportunity to gain real-world experience before stepping fully into her career.

In just a few months, Alycia will be wrapping up her degree program — a huge milestone in itself. But before she dons the graduation robe, she’s squeezing every drop of joy and adventure out of her student years. At the end of June, she’s off again — this time on a vacation to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. And come year-end, she’ll be heading to Bali with her besties for what I imagine will be another unforgettable trip.

She’s certainly earning her “globetrotter” title! It makes me happy to see her living her best life, balancing work and wanderlust so effortlessly. These are the golden years — and Alycia is making every moment count.

We had lunch at Hong Kong Food Culture at Low Yat Plaza last Sunday, as Cass’s laptop battery needed replacement. We always enjoy the food in this restaurant but prices are a tad steep. Imagine RM40+ for a plate of braised brinjal with minced meat! The roast duck you see in the picture here is over RM40+!

Refreshing sea coconut in coconut milk and sago. Very delicious and not overly sweet.

Refreshing mango sago dessert.
