Life is a lot like the seasons, always changing. One moment it’s a whirlwind of activity, and the next, a quiet period of rest and reflection. That’s exactly what this past week has felt like in our home—a mix of highs, a bit of stress, and the steady rhythm of family life.
Sherilyn is finally on a well-deserved semester break. After months of intense projects and assignments, she’s trading her drafting table for a much-needed pause. She’s keeping busy with her university clubs, diving into her passions for both barista art and dance. In fact, her dance team (from her dance studio) just landed a paying gig at an event! It’s great to see her getting recognized for her talent.
Then there’s Alycia, who is wrapping up her final semester. Her graduation is on the horizon, but not before some serious celebrating. She’s definitely living life to the fullest. In just two weeks, she’s off to Bali with one group of friends, and in November, she’ll be heading to Busan, Korea, with another. She has so many wonderful friends, and it’s a joy to watch her embrace these new adventures before she steps into the next phase of her life.
On the other end of the spectrum is Cass, who is in the thick of her SPM revision. Her trial exams start in two weeks and will last for three long weeks. She’s working incredibly hard, but it’s tough to see her lose sleep over it. It’s a stressful time, and my main job right now is to make sure she stays healthy and feels supported. I can’t wait for these exams to be over so she can finally get some rest.
Lately, my heart has felt a bit heavy. I’m so thankful for my parents, especially my mum, who has been my anchor. We video call every other day during my hour-long walks outside in the late evenings, and her words always bring comfort. It’s a reminder of how important those connections are, especially when you need them most.
After Alycia’s graduation in early 2026, I’m making a promise to myself to go back to Ipoh for several weeks. It’s been too long since I’ve been home, and I want to spend some quality, uninterrupted time with my parents to make up for it.
It’s a lot to juggle, but that’s what family life is all about. It’s about celebrating the successes, supporting each other through the challenges, and finding comfort in the small moments of connection.
