A Sweet Victory: Alycia’s First Class Achievement

After a string of misfortunes that weighed heavily on my heart, today finally brought a ray of sunshine. It was a simple yet powerful moment — this afternoon, Alycia suddenly shouted from her room, “Mummy, I got first class!”

Those words were the sweetest music to my ears. Achieving First Class Honours means she has graduated with a CGPA of at least 3.5. More than just an academic milestone, this also comes with a huge financial relief — she doesn’t need to repay her PTPTN loan. With a First Class degree, Alycia is eligible to apply for an exemption, which effectively converts her loan into a scholarship.

Less than an hour after Alycia shared the good news with me, I received an email from her university, attaching her results slip. That was when I saw from her results slip that she also achieved an additional standing of a Dean’s List award! What a blessing!

Next, Alycia will need to log in to the PTPTN portal to apply for the exemption. This step will officially seal the good news.

And as if the timing couldn’t be more perfect, Alycia is also stepping into a season of celebration and adventure. Tomorrow, she’ll be flying off to Hatyai with her girlfriends for a 3-day, 2-night holiday. Just two days after she returns, she’ll be heading to Bali, and in two months, she has another trip planned to Busan. She is truly making the most of her time before starting work life.

On the career front, Alycia has already attended an interview and today completed an online assessment sent by the employer. If she passes, she’ll be called for a second round of interviews. I can only wish her all the luck in the world — may she find a job that she not only excels in but also genuinely enjoys.

Today, my heart is light and full of gratitude. After many difficult days, this piece of wonderful news is a reminder that brighter moments do come, often when we least expect them.
