Finding Joy in Movement

We all know that being physically active regularly has immense physical and mental health benefits. From preventing obesity and diseases to promoting bone and muscle health, I cannot stress enough how important adopting an active lifestyle is to us.

One of the things that are non-negotiable in my life is exercise. And that’s not only being active for the half an hour to an hour when I exercise. I make it a point to have movements throughout the day – sweeping and moping the floor, cleaning my cat’s litter box, running errands, deliberately climbing up and down the stairs throughout the day, watching dance exercise videos, and doing lunges when I am brushing my teeth and filling up the kettle.

You don’t need expensive brand names or trends, just a simple shift in mindset about the attire you enjoy can quietly nudge you to actually show up more consistently. It might sound unbelievable, but slipping into one of my favorite women printed gym shirts somehow cues my brain: “I’m ready to run until I sweat it out and reach my target heart rate”.

For many of us, fitness clothing is either in neutral colors or basic, but there’s something lovely about workout shirts in fun designs and colors. These shirts make exercise feel less like a chore and more fun. You can choose a shirt with a quirky print or inspiring print to lift your mood on days when you feel uninspired.

There are days when I feel like going mall-shopping and I take this opportunity to put on my gym hoodies for women and my most comfortable sneakers and do several hours of brisk walking around the mall. I can walk more than 10k steps at the mall without feeling tired. Mall-walking provides a temperature-controlled environment, making it an ideal choice for all weather conditions. It’s a low-impact exercise that’s perfect for people of all ages.

For our warm weather, I prefer to wear a tank top or gym hooded tank for comfort and breathability. I’ve always preferred sleeveless tops as they are both comfy and can pair well with any bottom.  Whether it’s the design, print, or color, the sportswear we choose can be a small but meaningful part of our wellness journey.
