I’ve ditched tea bags for a few years now because of concerns about micro and nanoplastics. I used to cut open tea bags and pour the tea contents into my cup to brew, rather than steeping the bags directly in hot water. Now, I’ve taken things one step further by switching to whole tea leaves instead of the tea powder or crushed tea commonly found in tea bags.
And I’ve discovered that whole dried leaves are so much more aromatic!
My latest haul included peppermint leaves and two types of green tea leaves, and I’m especially loving the peppermint and Longjing green tea.
🌿 Peppermint Tea
The peppermint leaves brew into a wonderfully refreshing cup with a strong, cooling peppermint flavour. I love drinking this in the afternoon and evening when I need something refreshing!
🍵 Longjing Green Tea
Longjing is my favourite type of green tea, and the aroma of these whole leaves is simply lovely! I drink it in the morning and before 2pm, as I prefer to avoid caffeine later in the day.
The flavour and aroma are on another level compared with the green tea I’ve had from tea bags. Once you’ve experienced the fragrance of these whole leaves, it’s hard not to appreciate the difference!
