How Do I Care For My Eyes?

I  received my pair of blue light blocking eye glasses from Naturally Plus today! As I am typing this post at my desktop computer now, I am wearing the glasses to block blue light from damaging my precious assets. I can really see the difference–with the anti-blue light glasses on, my eyes do not get tired and strained easily from the glare of the monitor.  I really need to take good care of my eyes as I want them to be in tip top condition for as long as I live.

I am turning 44 years old this year and currently, I am doing everything that I can to prevent age-related macular degeneration (AMD) of my eyes. Here’s what I am doing to preserve the health of my eyes:

1. Take Super Lutein
2. Wear anti blue light eye glasses whenever I use the computer
3. Try to get sufficient rest and sleep (trying real hard!)
4. Exercise
5. Eat a healthy diet

What is age-related macular degeneration?
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of blindness in the developed world. AMD is a disease associated with aging that gradually destroys sharp, central vision. Central vision is needed for seeing objects clearly and for common daily tasks such as reading and driving.

Blue light exposure may increase the risk of macular degeneration.
The fact that blue light penetrates all the way to the retina (the inner lining of the back of the eye) is important, because laboratory studies have shown that too much exposure to blue light can damage light-sensitive cells in the retina. This causes changes that resemble those of macular degeneration, which can lead to permanent vision loss. Although more research is needed to determine how much natural and man-made blue light is “too much blue light” for the retina, many eye care providers are concerned that the added blue light exposure from computer screens, smartphones and other digital devices might increase a person’s risk of macular degeneration later in life.

Protecting Your Eyes With Lutein, The Eye Vitamin.
Lutein is one of two major carotenoids found as a color pigment in the human eye (macula and retina). It is thought to function as a light filter, protecting the eye tissues from sunlight damage. Lutein is called a carotenoid vitamin. It is related to beta-carotene and vitamin A. Foods rich in lutein include broccoli, spinach, kale, corn, orange pepper, kiwi fruit, grapes, orange juice, zucchini, and squash. Lutein is absorbed best when it is taken with a high-fat meal.

Tips for Protecting Eye Health and Preventing Macular Degeneration
These suggestions may help protect vision and improve your overall health, and some may lower the risk of developing AMD. Even if you already have AMD, continue these healthy habits:

  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Eat a nutritious diet that includes green leafy vegetables, yellow and orange fruit, fish and whole grains.
  • Don’t smoke.
  • Maintain normal blood pressure and control other medical conditions.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Wear sunglasses and hats when you are outdoors.
  • Get regular eye exams, and consult your doctor if you notice vision changes.

The anti-blue light eye glasses from Naturally Plus cost RM30 a pair and does not require prescription. The lenses are tinted light brown so they can absorb and cut blue light. You can get similar eye glasses from eyewear shops and some pharmacies sell them too.

If you want to try Super Lutein, Japan’s no. 1 supplement for eyes, I can help you get hold of it. Just email me at or Whatsapp / call 019 266 4290.

Treat your eyes with tender loving care. It is never too early to start caring for them.

Receive Hazmat Training

Hazmat is an abbreviation for hazardous materials and substances that pose a danger to the public’s health. The material may be poisonous or flammable and would be a danger to life or to the environment if released without precautions.

A hazmat suit is “protective equipment” consisting of a whole-body garment that is impermeable and is worn to protect against the hazardous materials.

Become an AHLS Provider

AHLS stands for Advanced Hazmat Life Support. There are over 17,600 physicians, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals around the world who are prepared to face the medical challenges of hazmat incidents, which could include toxic terrorism and chemical spills and to medically manage patients who have been exposed to hazardous materials.

Students may also come from a industries such as manufacturing, construction, aerospace, automotive, engineering, shipping, and government employees.

Take the Required Course

The University of Arizona offers a 16-hour AHLS Provider Course that is taught by a physician, aboard-certified toxicologist, and other expert instructors who train healthcare professionals to become AHLS Providers and care for hazmat incident victims.

The course starts with a multiple choice pre-test that assesses the participants’ knowledge. That also serves as an excellent study resource for the later multiple choice post-test. Small groups do interactive exercises. Healthcare professionals who receive at least 80 percent on the post-test are then verified as AHLS Providers for a period of four years.

No matter which state you live in, Hazmat School courses satisfy national OSHA, DOT, and DOT training requirements.

Do the Course Online

If it is more convenient for you to take a self-paced online course of 11 modules and three hours of CME, which would be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so that you can complete your training on your own schedule, you can earn your certificate that way.

Two Pertinent Organizations

The American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT) is an international disciplinary organization with the goal of the advancement of the treatment and diagnosis of Hazmat poisoned patients.

The Office of Hazardous Materials Safety is the federal safety authority that ensures the safe transport of hazardous materials by rail, air, water, and highway.

The Accidental Millionaire Farmer

This is by far one of the most inspiring stories I’ve heard.  It is a true story of a 74-year old sickly farmer with a switch of fate – from sickly to healthy and from poor to rich after he consumed hydrogen infused water and a supplement containing carotenoids in the hope of treating his chronic diabetes.

The picture below shows Dr Siti’s Facebook posting about Ah Pek the farmer and accidental millionaire.  Dr Siti is a medical doctor and a consumer of both the products.  Ah Pek was Dr Siti’s patient. He had chronic diabetes and had a ulcer on his leg which didn’t heal. Ah Pek was on insulin jabs and his weight dropped from 75kg to 45kg. He would frequently visit Dr Siti’s clinic in Jementah with his family members supporting him as he was too weak.  One day, Ah Pek came to his clinic with his sugar level dropped to 5 mmol/l.  He was then off insulin jabs.  It was then that Ah Pek introduced the hydrogen water and carotenoids supplement to Dr Siti. And the rest they say is history.

The picture below shows Dr Siti and Ah Pek holidaying in Italy recently. They had both won a free holiday to Italy, courtesy of the company distributing the supplements.  At 74 years old, Ah Pek is in the pink of health. He could explore the Vatican City and climb up to Coloseum.

Just a farmer and Ah Pek is now earning a 5-figure monthly income from Naturally Plus. Next year, he will be well on his way to earn a 6-figure monthly income.  And he achieved all these in less than 4 years, amazing!

It is wonderful that Ah Pek has his health and life back (when Dr Jalil expected him to be in deep trouble) and is traveling the world now and very fit to do so!

Ah Pek only has 3 sponsors / downlines – his wife, Dr Siti and another lady 😂😂😂 and yet he is able to earn such a comfortable passive income from Naturally Plus.  If only I could be half as ‘lucky’ as him. Well, with patience and persistence, I believe that I can. Give me another 2 years ya!

Molecular Hydrogen in the Huffington Post

Today I read an interesting article on “Hydrogen Water Could Help Reduce Free Radical Activity” in the Huffington Post dated 30 August 2016. WOW! For those of you who had emailed me with skepticism on hydrogen water, do give this article a read ya 😉

Yes I know our regular tap water has hydrogen but this particular hydrogen infused water that I am drinking now has much, much more.

There are nearly 400 studies on the effects of hydrogen water issued by universities and research institutes.

The hydrogen water that I am consuming now has the purest grade of commercially produced hydrogen with the highest quality to remove those free radicals in our body.

Do drop me an email at or Whatsapp 019 266 4290 to know more.

First Day Of School Holiday

Activity on the first day of school holiday today…

Cass and her 2che playing Blokus and Chinese animal chess. All started in  a jovial mood but it ended with 2 sore and screaming girls with no one admitting defeat, haiz…

But all was peaceful again when they were glued to the idiot box.

As I am typing this post now, Alycia and Sherilyn are downstairs playing badminton, jogging and then to the gym.  Cass and I will be joining them at the gym in a moment.

I’m still enjoying my school holiday, though I feel like I have so little time left to do my own things when I get an extra of 2 hours sleep in the morning. Oh well, I can’t have the best of both worlds.   Anyway, I am still happy it’s a holiday where there is no stress to rush from one thing to another 😀

Encouraging Quotes

My friend cum sifu / team leader posted this in our team’s Facebook page this morning, to encourage us to never give up and the messages are staring at me, telling me not to give up… in whatever struggles that I am mired in now. And I’d like to share this with you too.

Everyone has their own struggles but if you have a steely will power and persistence that never breaks, you will succeed too, just like these famous people!

Happy Wednesday world!

Our Easter Sunday – 5 April 2015

After church, we had Japanese at Edo Ichi @ Nexus, Bangsar South.

Cold noodles with cold broth and raw quail’s eggs but err, we find the raw egg mixture too yucky and omitted it in the cold broth.

Green tea ice-cream with red bean. Not my idea, of course. I don’t spoil the kids with ice-creams at Japanese restaurants as they are expensive. Their ever indulgent foodie daddy’s treat to them!  Me – I’ll buy them ice-cream potong as treats – only 95 sen each. Call me el cheapo la, but I think kids don’t need expensive treats 😛  They can spoil themselves when they earn their own money.

My kids and I are hard core fan-see of Japanese. We really don’t mind having Japanese 3x a day haha!  That night, we had Japanese again!  At the Japanese restaurant at our condo 😀

Cass and her favorite che che monkeying around…

These days, Cass brings along a pack of Izumio hydrogen water with her wherever she goes to.  She does not drink tea or coffee as caffeine stimulates the bladder by increasing bladder activity and exacerbates the urine leakage.  She has so much confidence and trust in Izumio now that she diligently drinks her Izumio everyday.  Our goal is to achieve  0-diaper by year’s end 🙂

Chinese New Year 2015

Gong Xi Gong Xi to all my readers!  How has the start of the year of the wooden sheep been to you? I hope that everyone has been having a great time eating, bonding, traveling, shopping or simply chilling out at home doing nothing.

We spent our day shopping and lunching at Pavillion on the first day of CNY. On the 2nd day of CNY, we loitered at Mid Valley Megamall. On the 3rd day, we hung out at Avenue K and today we had our Yap family reunion lunch at a Chinese restaurant at Shaw Parade.

After lunch at a Japanese restaurant on the first day of CNY, we went window shopping and camwhoring at Tokyo Street.

Cass is still very much into her roller skates shoes and wears them wherever she goes to these days. She can skate very well now, gliding up and down the floors of the malls, twirling and gyrating gracefully but she can get on everyone’s nerves when she squashes our toes with her roller shoes!

Lion dance performance at Pavillion on the 1st day of CNY…

I’d like to wish all my readers a very prosperous, happy, auspicious  and smooth sailing year of the sheep.  May all the bad luck that lurked in our lives the previous year exit from our lives and may only good luck stay within 🙂

Cool Granny!

My parents came to KL to help ‘babysit’ Alycia and Sherilyn when I brought Cass to HKL for her MRI scan on 30 Dec 2014.

While waiting for Cass’ turn to do the MRI scan at the pediatric ward, my mum Whatsapp-ed me these pix…

Complete with goggles too…

Alycia asked her granny to play nerf gun with her LOL!!  It’s funny that my parents never played toys with us when my brothers and I were young but now, they are having so much fun and craze doing it with their grandkids!  I must admit that I hardly have the time to play with my own girls. I guess that when I have my own grandkids, I will finally have the time and peace to relax, let go and chillax with them. I will then not have as many worries like I have now. No work to bog me down too. Oh, I can’t wait for the time to come.  Do you wish the same too? 😉

Abandoned Baby

During Cass’ MRI scan at HKL on 30 December 2014,  we met a very adorable baby boy of about 8 months old.  He was placed in a crib next to Cass’ bed in the pediatric ward.

When I first saw him, I noticed how adorable he was. He was draped in a pink hospital gown.  I thought he was a she until I saw a nurse changing his diaper.  I asked the nurse if he was going in for a surgery but the nurse shook her head and replied “mak tinggalkan dia” (his mother left him)  I was horrified and speechless!  I chatted with the nurse and found out that the baby boy was abandoned by his mother at the hospital cafe.

At the time I saw this baby boy, he was crying non-stop.  No one was free to attend to him yet.  Finally a nurse came and gave him a bottle of milk. He grabbed the bottle tightly with both his tiny hands and sucked the milk hungrily while closing his eyes.  He reminded me of my girls when they were hungry and sleepy when they were babies.  He even looked like one of my babies when he was sucking the milk bottle with his eyes closed.  Awwwww, the baby really tugged at my heartstrings and knowing that he is now an orphan, makes me want to take him home with me.  The nurse told me that many parents from the pediatric ward wanted to adopt this baby but the hospital is now awaiting the Welfare officers to bring him away 🙁

While many childless couples out there are desperate for a baby of their own (I was once one of them), I just cannot fathom how some people can abandon their own flesh and blood.  As for this 8-month old baby boy, his parents must be cold blooded and ruthless.  After having him with them for 8 months, how can they have the heart to dump him?  I have just met him for a short 1 hour and have already fallen in love with him. May God bless this little soul and may he be adopted by a kind couple who will love him unconditionally.

Bedside Assistant Helps Seniors and Disabled

An adjustable bed rail, also known as a Bedside Assistant, is a wonderful device for anyone who is disabled or elderly and infirm. Being able to hold on to something that helps a person get up and out of bed or increase his or her in-bed mobility is a blessing and more than worth its weight in gold!

Since it fits any size home style bed and has a weight capacity of 300 pounds, it is versatile enough to be used by just about anyone who needs the aid of such a rail.
It can be easily installed without fuss or special talents because it has a tool free assembly and snaps together with just four parts. If you wonder about how secure it is, there are straps that attach the rail to the bed frame, there are snap buttons that hold the assembly in place, and the height can be set depending on the mattress.

It is of paramount importance to make sure that such a person will not fall out of bed and has a way of getting up with the assistance of the bedside rail. This is usually a necessity if the elderly or disabled person is able to mostly be independent but needs to rely on aids to accomplish certain tasks. Preventing injuries is a major concern in those circumstances.

Order today if you have a loved one who needs such a Bedside Assistant, and you will be doing that person a very big favor.

How To Log In To Your WordPress Blog If Your Dashboard Has Vanished

I tell you ar, this year is really a bad year for me.  There are stumbling blocks left right top bottom for me.  In everything that I do — from health to wealth to work to my overall mood the whole year long.  Hopefully  all the bad vibes and jinx will end too when the year 2014 ends.

Since yesterday, I have been unable to log in to this blog again.  “Could I be that jinx and could my blog be eaten up by virus again?” I thought to myself.  No way can my luck be so rotten right?  I refuse to accept my hard luck.  Today I tried to fix my blog problem myself.  I sat in front of my computer and clicked on every single icon I could see to check if something was blocked or deleted.  I emailed my blog host but the support staff could not help me too.  What?! Whatever.  I rather take matters in my own hands.  Then I googled for an answer and  then voila, I found a video tutorial on how to log in to my wordpress blog!

So guys, if you have a WordPress blog with your dashboard or Log In section that vanished overnight, fret not.  All you have to do is just type /wp-admin  after your blog’s URL, like this:

and then key in your username and password.  That’s it.  Easy peasy!

I feel a sense of achievement now. So glad that I manage to open the door to my blog again!

Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer Car Decor Kit

Christmas is exactly a month away.  This year we will not set up the X’mas tree at home as we will not be at home for almost the entire month of December.

To get the Christmassy feel, I decorated my car instead…. with a set of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer car decor kit 😀   It comes with a pair of antlers with a bell on each antler and a  big red nose! 😀

Can you see it?  Look closer!   Rudolf the  red nose car is smiling at you!

Last year, we saw this car decor kit at Cold Storage in Singapore.  I had wanted to get a set too seeing how cute it was on our Singaporean friend’s car but we forgot all about buying it, haiz..

Anyway, our dear friend gave me a set of pink bunny ears car decor when she came to KL mid of this year. This bunny ears car decor have certainly made heads turn and put a smile on almost every one who sees it. There were even passers-by who stopped short of what they were doing just to snap a picture of my pink bunny car!

So, whatcha think? Cute?  My girls love it and so do I! 🙂

This car reindeer kit is available at Cold Storage @ RM29.90 a set.  I hope Cold Storage would carry more designs in future.

Our Sunday – 23 November 2014

We were out at Gardens and Mid Valley Megamall today. After lunch of dim sum at Han Room, we went our separate ways. Alycia and Sherilyn wanted to follow daddy coz daddy is a softie and will say yes to almost all their whims and fancies. Grandma and hubs’ aunt went shopping separately. And I wanted to do shopping. Cass was at a crossroad. She could not decide who she wanted to follow. Her heart wanted badly to be with her sisters. She stood there indecisively, shifting her eyes between ‘Team 1’ (comprising daddy and sisters, ha!) and ‘Team Mummy’ and had a hard time deciding. Finally she chose ‘Team Mummy’!  So much for watching too much of the Amazing Race with her sisters, haha!

While going down the escalator…

Cass – mummy, do you know why I chose you?

Me – why?

Cass – because that team has so many people already. You are alone, so I am giving you my support to be in your team! I will always support you just like how you have always supported me during my time in the hospitals.

Side track a bit. A few months ago during a pap smear procedure by my gynae, Cass followed me into the procedure room. When the doctor shoved the metal apparatus (whatcha call that?) into my down under, Cass held my hand assuringly and squeezed it just like how I did to hers during each of her procedure at the many hospitals that she went to. She told me that she wanted to support me just like how I have supported her. She also knows that I hate peeling crabs and prawns, so she does this tedious job for me and puts the crab / prawn flesh into my mouth with her hand each time we eat prawns and crabs 🙂

My baby girl tugged a string in my heart again today. She is really ‘tai sek’ (worth loving). And for having her join my ‘team’, I rewarded her with a cup of Boost Juice again! 😀

Cass is my ever willing model as well, helping me model some of the clothes that I sell at my online store.

Happy Sunday everyone!  Hope you are all having a great time chilling out with your family and friends.

Early Shopping For Cass

Yesterday we went to Mid Valley Megamall for dinner and then brought Cass to shop for her school uniform and school shoes! Yup I know I am a tad early but if I do not shop for the new school stuff now, I am afraid that we won’t have much time. At the start of the school holidays next week, we will be heading back to Ipoh for a few days. A week later, we will be off to New Zealand for several weeks. Once back in KL, I would need to recuperate from my trip ha! On 30th December, Cass is scheduled for an MRI scan at HKL and on 2 Jan 2015, she would have to be in her ‘big kid school’ for orientation and to sit for a LINUS test. Finally on 5 January, Cass will be in Primary 1. I know all these will take place in a flash.  Come 5 January 2015, my life will pretty much change too.

Can’t believe my baby girl will be in Primary 1 in just 1.5 month’s time!  I still treat her like a cuddly baby and still carry her all the time.  I know I will definitely be emotional when I see her donning her  school uniform in the classroom.

Yesterday the drama queen went for her very first hip hop dance public performance  @ the Setia Alam Eco Park.  Check out her video in my other blog.

Happy Sunday peeps!

HFM Resuscitated and Alive Again!

I hope you are just as happy and thrilled as I am that you can finally see white and not red in this blog!   Finally…. after 3 days!  Though it is only 3 days, it felt like 3 months to me!   I was on tenterhooks for the period my blogs were dead, feeling darn anxious on the fate of my 2 ‘babies’.   I did not know if I would lose them forever or get back only parts of them and lose parts of them.  I was hopeful of getting them back safely in one piece. I prayed fervently and PTL, I got my ‘babies’ back.   Yeehaw, Health Freak Mommy is out of the woods finally (singing to the tune of Out Of The Woods by Taylor Swift!) 😀

My blog will now be white since I am now whitelisted by Google. I had to rid the old purple colored theme anyway.  According to the 3 ‘doctors’ who treated my domain, the virus stemmed from the blog theme.   Words cannot describe how happy I am to have my ‘babies’ back and in one piece, albeit the domain host did some modification and upgrading.  Thank you to the 3 fantastic guys at Exabytes  who have so kindly helped me recover my blogs by removing the virus, did some procedures on them and then helped me to submit my blogs to Google for verification and whitelisting.

Thank you to all my blog readers  who took the trouble  and time to send me messages and emails to inform me that my blogs had been infected by virus.  Thank you for coming back after all these years to read the crap I write.

Cass is sending a flying kiss as a gesture of appreciation to the 3 guys who helped me resuscitate the blogs and to everyone who likes to read her stories 🙂
