FollowTeachers’ Day is observed on May 16 in Malaysia every year to honour the contributions of teachers whereas World Teachers’ Day is held annually on October 5 to celebrate the work of educators. Every May for the past 15 years, my 3 daughters would discuss with me on what to get for their favourite teachers. The gifts must be suitable for their teachers and most importantly, the budget must be right. From pens to chocolates, fruits, teacher shirts, essential oils and cakes, these were some of the gifts from me to my daughters’ teachers. These teachers shaped my daughters and unselfishly guided them to excel in their weak subjects.
Cass’s English teacher from high school deserves a gift this year even though Cass has already left high school. A smart empowered women shirt or best teacher shirt would be a great gift for this teacher. Cass who has never learned English literature in primary or high school, decided about two months before SPM that she wanted to sit for this paper. Cass had no books or notes on this subject and she asked her van mate who is a year older than her for his English literature notes. Cass also asked her English teacher for guidance and her teacher patiently guided her and gave her all the notes that she had for her to self-study. By the grace of God, Cass scored an A+ for her English Literature in the SPM exam!

My daughters used to gift their favourite teachers something small, using their own savings to buy.
