Just when I thought my streak of bad luck had run dry, the universe decided to sprinkle a little more “surprise” into my week. And of course — it had to involve my new car. Again!
Two days ago, my car park neighbour WhatsApped me a photo of my front tyre. “Your tyre looks flat,” he wrote. “Better get it checked.” Bless him for being such an observant and caring neighbor because the next day, I drove straight to the mechanic.
Sure enough, there it was — a nail sitting comfortably inside my front left tyre like it paid for parking. Thankfully, it wasn’t a major or expensive surgery. My trusted mechanic removed the nail and patched the hole for just RM15. At least I’m lucky in that department — an honest mechanic is worth their weight in gold!
But the streak wasn’t over.
Later that day, I was passing a magnifying glass to my mother-in-law. Just an innocent, harmless task, right? Somehow, the glass popped out of the frame and shattered into a million tiny pieces on the floor. I quickly swept the glasses away with a broom and dustpan.
…and yet, somehow, one tiny shard still managed to cut my finger when I picked it up from a chair. Because why not? Bad luck likes dramatic effects.
So yes — flat tyre, nail in rubber, broken glass, cut finger. It was like a comedy skit starring only ME!
But here’s the thing: after a string of mishaps, good fortune usually follows. So I’m taking it as a sign that better luck is on the way!
December is just around the corner, and it’s going to be a warm, social, and joyful month. Plenty of reunion dinners, gatherings, laughter, and good food. And the best part — I’ll be going back to Ipoh to spend time with my parents. It has been so long since I last went back, and my heart is already so full just thinking about it.
Bad luck? It comes and goes.
Family, love, laughter, and home — that’s what truly matters. And I can’t wait for all of it.
