Alycia Takes on Busan: One Last Adventure Before Corporate Life Begins

Two days ago, Alycia boarded yet another plane—this time heading to Busan, South Korea—with six of her university mates. While many young graduates rest before stepping into the working world, my globetrotting eldest daughter decided that adventure was the best way to mark the end of student life.

Their journey wasn’t a straight one. The girls had a 9-hour layover in Ho Chi Minh, and instead of sitting around at the airport, they seized the opportunity to explore. They headed into the city for lunch and took a short sightseeing trip, making full use of every hour. That’s Alycia for you—never one to waste a moment, always ready to add another memory to her passport.

It feels like just yesterday she was in Seoul. One year later, she’s in Busan. Earlier this year alone, she spread her wings across Vietnam, Bali, and Hatyai. I may have even missed a couple of destinations because her travel list keeps growing faster than I can recall! If there’s a definition of “jet-setting,” she’s living it.

This trip to Busan is her final vacation before she enters the next chapter of adulthood. She will return in 10 days, take a 1-day breather, and then—like clockwork—report to her first day of corporate working life the next day. No more spontaneous travel, no more weekday holidays, and no more carefree schedule. Welcome to the world of annual leave forms and office hours, my girl.

But I’m glad she’s living life to the fullest while she still can. These adventures will become stories she tells in boardrooms, lunches, and maybe one day, to her children. Travel has shaped her into someone confident, adaptable, and worldly—skills no classroom can truly teach.

So here’s to Alycia’s Busan adventure, to unforgettable memories with friends, and to the exciting chapter ahead.

Enjoy your travels, my dear.

Corporate life will be waiting when you land. ✈️💼

She still WhatsApps me every time before she boards the plane and lands.

Yummy Korean meals with her uni mates:

Today’s lunch. She says the soup is really good.
