Haru has the weirdest sleeping habit lately, and honestly, I still can’t decide if it’s cute, funny, or just plain mysterious.
She insists on sleeping on my bed every night. Not beside me. Not in my arms. Not on my pillow like those Instagram and TikTok cats.
My feet.
Right next to my feet.
She used to be perfectly fine sleeping at arm’s length, close enough that I could reach out and gently touch her. That was our quiet little routine. I’d place her next to me, she’d circle once or twice, plop down, and fall asleep.
But recently? The moment I settle her beside me, she’ll quietly get up… walk away… and crawl all the way down to the foot of the bed like she has a reserved seat there.
Every. Single. Night.
The funny thing is, Haru has never been the cuddly type. She doesn’t like being hugged, doesn’t enjoy being petted to sleep, and definitely isn’t one of those clingy, “must-touch-human” cats. And to be fair, I’m not exactly thrilled about a furry tail brushing my face at 3am either.
So maybe we’re both not the cuddling type.
Still… the feet spot?
That’s such a specific choice.
Sometimes I lie there half-awake wondering what goes on inside her little cat brain. Is it warmer there? Does she feel safer guarding the end of the bed like a tiny security officer? Or is she just claiming her own personal space while still wanting to be near me?
It’s like she’s saying, “I love you… but from a distance.”
Classic Haru.
Maybe only a real cat whisperer could decode this strange behaviour. Or maybe this is just her version of affection — quiet, independent, and slightly eccentric.
Either way, I’ve accepted my fate.
Some people sleep with teddy bears.
I sleep with a cat at my feet.
And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🐾
