Yesterday, being a Sunday, Alycia went to the Mitsui Outlet Park at KLIA with her friend, who wanted to score some discounted branded sneakers. Seeing the opportunity, I asked Alycia to help me hunt for stylish sneakers that I could pair with dresses. Unfortunately, despite the great discounts, none of the designs caught my eye.
But Alycia, being the thoughtful daughter she is, kept taking photos of different shoes and sending them to me, asking if I liked any of them. That’s when it struck me—she may want to gift the shoes to me for my birthday this month’s end! However, since none of them were to my liking, I told her that I would shop for them at the shopping mall. I then suggested that she look for sports shorts instead.
I recalled how much I loved her short original Adidas shorts and asked her to see if she could find something similar. She found a perfect pair at the Nike shop and, instead of just sending pictures, she took it a step further—she recorded a video of herself trying them on for me! I instantly loved them and asked her to get me a size XS.
To my surprise and delight, Alycia then told me that she would gift them to me as a present from her first paycheck for interning. Her gesture deeply touched me. This girl has truly matured so much over the past year, growing into a sensible and thoughtful young woman.
While I didn’t find a pair of shoes I liked, Alycia ended up buying herself a pair of Puma running shoes at an incredible 80% discount—what a steal! This pair of shoes will add to her large collection of branded sneakers, which is close to 10 pairs!
As a mother, my greatest hope is that Alycia continues to do well in life, achieving all her dreams and being able to afford the things she desires, especially traveling the world. More than that, I wish for her to lead a fulfilling and happy life. Her small yet meaningful gesture has warmed my heart.
