Fruitless And Stressful Day

It was a fruitless, stressful and super frustrating day for me yesterday. My maid and I had spent the whole day coaxing Baby to pee into the specimen bottle but she just would not cooperate. I kid you not, we really spent the whole day from 9:30am through 5ish pm with lunch break and short breaks in between, saying “shee shee, shee shee, quick shee shee, don’t waste time, if you don’t shee shee we can’t go home….” again and again and again.  I was so frustrated that I even said many hurtful things to her.  She peed everywhere but just not into the bottle or the urine bag. I wanted to pull my hair, tear my skin out and cry. It was so, so, so frustrating. I knew she wanted to pee but she just held her urine and resisted peeing into the bottle when I carried her.  She struggled, pulled my white gold necklace and it snapped!  Boy was I enraged.  At home, she struggled again and cried till she puked with vomit dropping into the specimen bottle!

Today, we have to try collecting the pee again. The thought of collecting pee now makes me sick. I hope we don’t have to wait the whole day again today. My maid and I wasted all our time yesterday at the hospital and at home waiting for Her Royal Highness to pee, aargh!!

From morning……

… we waited through evening, yet My Royal Highness just wouldn’t wanna pee into the bottle!

  1. hi, sorry to hear that. bb C might just be scared. how abt letting her pee into the potty and collecting from the potty instead? anyway, u hang in there. we mothers have been frustrated to the brim many many times, and God forgive us for saying hurtful things to our offsprings.

  2. Yes, I was about to ask the samething that Irene asked. BB C has no problem peeing in potty before. Does it matter to collect from potty into specimen bottle?

  3. I can understand your frustration, I experienced that with my gal. Most of the time, I just give up.

However I did manage to get urine early in the morning after her milk.

Try giving her lots of juice using a straw, maybe that will help.

  4. hey you and baby c will be alright. I pray for you and baby c aite? hang on in there 🙂 in no time she’ll be much better, cheerful as she always is and walking out of the hospital. will pray for her recovery 🙂 and strength for you.

  5. why don’t you put her in a plastic bag and tie it up at her waist..sort of like a gunny sack. so when she pees..she can pee into it and you can just pour it out into a bottle. I hope it doesn’t sound silly…:)

  6. I do know the pain of this! Can’t think of any useful solution except to load her up with fluids, by that I mean give her something that she usually doesn’t get to have, like coke(diluted) or iced tea. She’ll gulp it down and fill her bladder up. Sometimes massaging the bladder area helps to get the flow going. If C can pee into a potty, ask the doc for a sterile bag that u can place the potty in, and hopefully get a specimen this way.

  7. Thanks all for the suggestions and comforting words. I collected using the potty (sterilized) and poured the pee into the bottle. The paed said this method is NOT acceptable and deemed the pee as contaminated.

  8. alamak, that potty way is not acceptable ka. but the bottle that u used already been exposed to the air from morning till evening, isn’t that the bottle is not ‘sterilized’ anymore? thus, got difference by using the potty to collect her pee? i’m just curious only…
