Alycia Makes Pancakes

Alycia loves eating, playing with her masak-masak (toy cooking set) and anything that has got to do with food. Yesterday she tried her hands at making pancakes for lunch. After I had poured out the wholewheat flour, chocolate milk powder, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, pumpkin seeds, wheatgerm, eggs and water into a large bowl, she helped me mix and stir the batter.

Alycia mixing and stirring the batter.

Fresh from the pan wholesome pancakes for toddlers and mummy too.

Alycia can’t wait to taste the pancake that she had helped to make.

  1. Mom to chumsy… both my gals hv dimples on both sides of their cheeks 😉

Leena….actually it’s very simple. I hv no recipe, I just ‘cincai’ dump all the ingredients into a big bowl w/o measuring them and then just add water until the consistency is not too thick and not too thin. Anyway, here’s the recipe which this wannabe cook has created, just for you (i think would make about 6-8 pieces depending on the size of your pan) :

    1) Around 5-6 tbsp of organic wholewheat flour

    2) 2 tbsp of white sesame seeds

    3) 1 tbsp of poppy seeds (poppy seeds make the pancake very nice to chew on)

    5) 2-3 tbsp of chocolate formula milk powder

    6) 1 tbsp of wheat germ

    7) 1-2 tbsp of sunflower & pumpkin seeds OR almond nibs OR any crushed nuts that you fancy

    8) 2 eggs

    9) Butter

    1st part:
Pour the wholewheat flour and milk powder into a large bowl. Pour water until you get the desired consistency. Make sure you stir well and ensure that the batter is not lumpy, else the pancakes wont turn out well.

Then, break 2 eggs into another smaller bowl. Whisk it and add a dash of salt. Then, pour egg into the 1st part.

Then add all the seeds, nuts and wheatgerm into the batter and stir well.

Heat up non-stick pan and add a tiny amount of butter onto pan.

Scoop the batter with a ladle into the non-stick pan. Under low fire, fry for about 3 mins and constantly toss and turn the pancake.

Happy trying and do let me know if yours turn out well, k?
