My Wholesome and Simple Lunch

This is my lunch almost everyday. Homemade bread with Steffi’s sugar-free peanut butter or kaya (LOVE kaya but don’t always eat it as it’s fattening), avocado or organic jams, sugar-free black sesame jam (another of my favourite) or tuna fish.

A ripe avocado in halves, ready to be scooped out to be spread on the bread or directly into our mouths (the gals love avocado).

I had this yesterday. Fresh Avocado on toasted homemade bread with peanut butter and organic strawberry jam. Thankfully Alycia and Sherilyn also love Avocadoes as they are very nutritious and packed with good oil, Vitamin E and other vitamins and minerals.

  1. i love avocado too. I normally dip it in sugar, sometimes i cut it into small pieces, put milk and sugar ang freeze it, it’s like avocado ice cream…yummmmy

  2. Girlie… i’ve tried a similar recipe too, i.e. blending the avocado with cold fresh milk. Hmmmm… taste terribly nice, like ice-cream.

  3. Gosh Shireen….you are certainly very healthy. Your kids are so blessed ;D Ashley doesn’t like avocado….maybe becos I don’t know how to buy them..got the bitter ones instead.

  4. Mom to chumsy… if it’s bitter maybe it’s becoz the avocado is not riped enuf? Avocados are to be eaten when they are really ripe, esp if u want to spread them on bread or crackers.

  5. haha….me too….i once bought them b ut it really taste awful, *yuk*….guess i dono how to choose the right one…

  6. I also love to put avocado into food processor and then make a juice from it. Served with a little chocolate gel, delicious in this blazing summer!

  7. shireen, i normally scoop out the flesh, mashed it with some lime-juice and a little sugar. store it in the fridge and my girls will spread it on their bread whenever they feel like havin one.

  8. Shin… wouldnt the avocado spread turn brown in the fridge? Or the lime juice prevents it from turning brown?

  9. nope, it stays greenish. u can also use lemon instead of lime. my friend who stays in the states taught me this recipe. however, my avocado spread would not stay in the fridge for more than 2 days.

  10. Janice… tks 4 visiting. Eerrmmm… health freak mommy doesnt like sugar 🙂

  11. My DH enjoys it too. Avacado is one of the super foods. Good that ur girls luv them as it’s a good fat

  12. A&A’s mom… when i first let them try avocado last yr, they hated it but after some training fr mummy, they now luv it, esp. if it’s spread on toast.
